Heat Wave - Just Made Myself Sing!
OI - I got so caught up watching Kitchen Cousins and looking at Goodreads, that I didn't realize it is almost 8. I need to go for my run. It has hopefully cooled off a bit and I won't completely die when I step outside. I had to sleep on an ice pack last night to keep cool. Watching the Brewers play is like watching a thermometer....the more they sweat, the hotter you know it is outside. Poor guys! Oh, I saw a girl today in a Greinke shirt...and I wanted one for myself!

Run Run Run
Oi - I ran my butt off this morning. I ran the majority of my 25 minutes this morning. My body ached most of the day. I was planning on yoga tonight, but I hurt. Not to mention, I didn't feel the best around the start of yoga and I wanted to watch Pretty Little Liars.
Ok, I came across the book reading list that Rory Gilmore has compiled for herself. I now have a new book reading list. Well, I need to get home to the new chore list I made myself. I broke up the things I usually pack into a day on the weekend. I figured if I broke them up into a few easy chores a day, my house can stay clean all the time and I don't have to spend parts of my weekend (rain or shine) spent holed up in my house...cleaning!!

Electrifying
Wow, I am using the E-stim (electric stimulation) on my sore muscles from this weeks intense workout plan. Boy does it feel good. I am so glad I work for someone who has all these gadgets I can borrow to make me feel better.
Our departure time for our weekend getaway has been shortened to 9am, as opposed to noon. Wow, so glad mom filled me in on that...tonight at quarter to 8. Now I have to try and get everything done tonight and still squeeze in my workout tomorrow morning. I guess I can't be too mad, I did get a dollar raise today! WOOT!
I am really excited about this coming August. I have it marked on my calender in BIG BOLD TYPE (and a picture). I'm going to be able to see Mumford and Sons for the first time since Paris! I don't know if this can get much better than Paris, since Marcus did walk right past me (I was too awestruck to say anything). I just still need to find someone to go with me; I bought two tickets so I don't have to be a girl alone in a tent at a folk festival. Things could get weird. Dixon, Illinois, I can't wait to invade you for the Dixon Stopover.
This is currently my favorite song to listen to by them. When it plays at work, I can't help but smile.
This thing is so easy to use too! |

Testy Tuesday Flop and a Tired Wednesday
Ugh, yesterday I got up at 6, biked over to work (only to find that the exercise room was already occupied), I biked home the long way, did my workout at home (with cans of beans in place of weights), and then I got ready for work. I worked from 7:45-6:12 before madly biking to yoga. There wasn't going to be any 7:15 class and I was really wanting to go to yoga. Oi, I have so been out of the hard, fast paced yoga for too long. I hurt all over today. Did you know, there is a position called "The Bird of Paradise." You be crazy if you try that....ok, I attempted, but I could barely get my leg off the ground.
A short bike ride home to dinner. I was really excited for this dinner. I kind of pulled a Chopped challenge and just threw things from my fridge together. Over lunch I started a marinade of peaches, red and yellow peppers, olive oil, and the usual salt and pepper, for a piece of haddock. I then took the peaches out of the marinade and cooked them in a pan with some brown rice while I broiled the haddock. Oh, I had such high hopes. I was let down. I don't really like fish that much to begin with, so I was really hoping the peaches and peppers would add a lovely pop of flavor to the gross meat. Unfortunately, it was just plain bland! I'm a horrible Chopped chef, I'd have chopped me. My mint chip ice cream was really good, especially with a bit of Magic Shell on it. I then did all my chores, wrote some letters, and read some Lucky magazine. Despite my eyelids practically dragging for hours, I couldn't fall asleep!
This is after you have worked your way up from a bent over/crouched position |

Potato Peel Pie
Wow. I have sticker shock, but not so much buyers remorse. One shopping trip, 3 essential items, and $211 later. Yikes! But it was nice to get something really nice and comfortable for once.
Anyways, on to books (the thing I really like to spend my money on). I recently read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. The book is written in the form of letters and telegrams and gives the point of view from all characters' perspectives. Juliet, a single 30 something-year-old writer, gets a letter from a man named Dawsy. He lives on the island of Guernsey and happened upon a book that used to be hers. The book was a favorite for Dawsy and he asks Juliet if she knows where he can get more books by the author Charles Lamb. This brings Juliet into the post war-occupied lives of a colorful cast of islanders that formed a literary society during the occupation. There are twists and turns, love and heart ache, and lots of new best friends to be made.
This book was so fantastic, I couldn't put it down. It only took my about 2 days to finish the book. I stayed up extra late on a work night for the fact that I couldn't stop the story. It had taken over my life and I had to finish no matter what. I only stopped reading long enough to watch Braun hit, that is how much I was enjoying it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

A Little Bit of Heaven
So I tried my idea of blogging the night before and then transferring them to a computer with internet later! HA - that would work if I could find one of the two jump drives I own. It is like, sometimes, you just can't win.
Tomorrow I have a day that I get to make my own hours. I love when the doctor is gone - I can get so much office work done that I can't squeeze into a 9.5/10hour day when we have patients. I'm hoping to be liberated earlier so both my sister and I can go get something for our correctly sized "girls." It is amazing what Ali Cudby taught me in one book. CRAZY!
So onto movies: I recently watched A Little Bit of Heaven. Marley, played by Kate Hudson, is a marketing/PR maven. She is hitting the prime of her life: great job, a great dog, great friends, a satisfying sex life; however, she lacks true love. Her assistant notices that she hasn't been looking very well and shoos her to the doctor. Little does she know, that appointment is going to change her life. She discovers she has colon cancer after a colonoscopy procedure where she met God (Whoopie Goldberg plays her representation of God). Whoopie/God tells her that she is dying and she can have 3 wishes. Marley jokingly asks to fly. After contemplation and asking if God was joking, she then suggests a million dollars as a test. God says, ok, but I know that isn't what you really want. Marley wakes up in the procedure room and brushes the incident off. Then she begins to get signs that it was no joke! She also discovers what her true, third wish really involves.
I think they mislabeled that film as a comedy. It did have some funny parts, but not really the happiest ending. I also think the PG-13 was a little low of a rating. Sex, sex, sex, potty mouth, nudity, and a masturbation talk. WHOA - awkward while watching with your mother and younger sister. It was also not the best movie to watch about a person with Stage 4 Colon cancer like my grandmother. It was still a very cute movie, despite making all who watched with me cry. Gael Garcia Bernal didn't hurt the appeal of the movie either.
