Dry Shampoo

I tested out a product I have really been looking forward to trying. It is a little on the let down side! It isn't as disappointing as break-out primer was, but I felt I had to use way too much product for the job it did.

I searched the shampoo aisle, not once, not twice, but three times. I finally found the dry shampoo secreted away in a tiny area. In fact, there was only one type of dry shampoo at the store: TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo. I get really greasy hair! It sucks when it isn't healthy to wash your hair everyday, but your hair looks like an oil slick after the first day. I take a shower every other day, but sometimes...it isn't enough. My hair just got over having to be washed EVERY day do to my job with pesticides and fungicides and insecticides...and more -cides. I tried out the product on my day after shampoo hair. I think I sprayed and sprayed and still had a greasy looking spot at the crown of my head (that tends to be where my head gets the most oily). It worked well enough though, since I was putting my hair up. Yet again, the problems I have had with the product might be user error, but I'll keep trying the product and see what happens.

Big Brother, Little Brother

I haven't finished a book in the last week. I am currently working on The Intellectual Devotional by David S. Kidder and Noah D. Oppenheim, 1984 by George Orwell, and A Thousand Years of Vice in London by Fergus Linnane. Most of these books are filling my general knowledge brain segment. Just about everyone in my family, and those who know me well, will be able to tell you that that part of my brain is brimming with knowledge. They call it useless crap, but I find it fascinating that people's noses used to fall off because of the "clap" and it's mercury treatments and that Galileo had to bastard daughters that became nuns.

I am really enjoying 1984. The imagery can be a little blatant - big brother's description is awfully like Stalin (the description isn't like the guy pictured above) and the main character's name is Winston...he happens to have a little problem with Oceania (what the UK becomes under "Big Brother" rule) and it's current rule. It is a very interesting novel and I hope to finish it soon - hopefully, since my second set of headphones got lost this weekend. I am too nice - I let my little brother borrow them to watch a movie and they disappeared! Oi!

Pushing Daisies Daisies Pushing

I haven't been watching any movies lately. I spent the weekend at the zoo and carnival being confused for my little brother's mother...yet again. Also being hit on by carnies - not fun! Ick! I don't mean to be judgmental or anything, but when you have 2 teeth and are trying to hit on a girl in a Scooby Doo voice or by making "animal noises" ... I don't think you really stand a chance! Plus, who asks: "Do you come here often?" when it's a three day carnival? There is a massive difference between Gerard Butler carnie and this guy. I did have lots of fun with my little brother though - he conquered some of his fears and went on all the big kid rides.

I have been too wrapped up in my Pushing Daisies series to really get in a movie. I watched Michael Collins, but I already talked about that on Wednesday. So hmmm, I guess I can talk about Pushing Daisies. It actually is SUPER cute. I really like it! If I wasn't completely exhausted from my day, I'd probably try to sneak in one more episode before heading to bed. I have the second season for another week and a half, so I'm not too worried about not getting the rest watched. I think the series burned out rather quickly despite how cute I think it is. The person who wrote the show had a love for redundant names: Boutique Travel Travel Boutique, The Darling Mermaid Darlings, Cour d'Cours (and just saying, if it were correct French it would be Cour des Cours, but oh well).

The show is about a guy named Ned, who has the ability to bring dead things back to life with a single touch. This reanimation only lasts for a minute, or else something or someone else has to die to take the place of the person or creature that stayed. Another aspect of his gift, is that upon being touched by Ned a second time, the person will return to death permanently. This gift works well in solving murders with his P.I. friend/business partner and baking pies (over-ripe/dead fruit becomes like new!); however, it does has it's problems of love. Ned brings back his childhood sweetheart and both are tormented by the fact that they can never touch...even accidentally...ever again. There are crazy aunts, a love-sick waitress, PeeWee Herman as a sewer rat, an ageless dog, plenty of pies and comedy despite the rather morbid subject matter.

Dunn with DUI

I heard about Ryan Dunn's death earlier this week and I was sad. Out of all the Jackass guys, he was one of my favorites. I won't lie, I knew right away when they said he had died in a car accident that it was because of alcohol. He ended up having a blood alcohol content level of 0.196. His friend said there was nothing wrong with him before he left the bar...he'd been drinking beer and having whisky with pickle juice chasers. I think that should have been a red flag that everything wasn't fine. Not the pickle juice part...the part where he'd been DRINKING! I'm sure he didn't seem that drunk while the friend was probably drunk himself. The sad thing is, if he wouldn't have had a car that could go between 120-140 miles per hour...he probably could have survived the crash. And Roger Ebert - you guy man! "Friends don't let Jackasses drive drunk." I really don't get people's need to drink and drive. I have a friend who did it and he's lucky he lived through his accident and that he didn't kill anyone in his stupidity. Drunk driving is STUPID and it needs to stop; however, if you are from Hollywood you can drink and drive, get arrested and convicted, but only have to wear an ankle braclet and live on "mansion arrest" for about a month.

I am really sorry for the loss. It is sad when any person dies in an easily prevented way. Just don't drink and drive....PLEASE! His skanky beard and desire to make people laugh will be missed.

Defragged and Sleepy

I'm going to see if I can do this post in as few words as possible. I am super tired, and the sooner I can get to bed the less grammatical errors I will make. I spent way too many nights up late working with my computer. I, however, do believe it should be working much better after I defragged the drive.

Relationship: nothing really new.

Health: I won a bogus 2 weeks free at Snap Fitness. I didn't bother signing up for a year when the same price for a month there gets a year subscription at the community center! I also have some huge blisters from working on breaking in my new Nike shoes.

Career: It's all good!

Wow…less than 150 words! Night dearies!

Oh to be Irish

I am currently watching The Challenge: Rivals. I like these shows for some reason. It is so much drama! The first show already has drunken fights and injuries. Surprise, surprise - Adam from the most recent Las Vega...well, dumbass beyond dumbass, has to start a fight. There was Ty, stirring the crap, and Adam feels he needs to step in and put him in his place. So they start a drunken brawl. I can't believe he feels that Ty is a loser when he's the one that keeps getting kicked off the shows for being a drunken idiot. He has his little drunken tantrums and he breaks stuff and hits people. Tell me who is the loser! Adam is such a moron. He has only ever acted like a dumbass and in the process of proving his manliness, he knocked over a girl and practically gave her a concussion. Nice chivalry! Plus, his "hit" was more like a prepubescent girl's attempt at a slap.

Anyways, I'd rather talk about someone else who is a contested hero. I just watched the movie, Michael Collins and I am blown away. I have to say, I think that movie is the first time I have EVER hated Alan Rickman. Alan Rickman is my love...I even love him in Die Hard. This movie, he took the cake as "Dev". I am still trying to understand how a guy with a French name (de Valera - aka "Dev"), born in America, with an English accent is allowed to be the President of the IRA. I love Liam Neeson as Michael Collins. I do find it interesting in the division between terrorism and guerrilla warfare. I suppose the main difference is that Michael Collins and his men were taking out the British officials that were stalking them and working on taking them out one by one. I guess it all depends how you view it, ultimately someone is dying and that is never good. I guess I just can't really blame the Irish for using guerrilla tactics when the Americans used them to help win the Revolutionary War. We wanted independence, they wanted it...we got it the way we needed to: by making a presence and making a stir. I cried really hard by the end. I am going to start reading more into the Irish Republic Army. I do have to say, that Julia Roberts and her attempts at an Irish accent are kind of funny, 'cuz sometimes it isn't there at all! Poor Julia.

Show Me Those Heels!

I am having so much fun blasting show tunes right now! It's so cheesy, but I LOVE IT! I can enjoy show tunes now without having to listen to them song several times a week in squeaky and/or nasally voices in choir. I love singing show tunes, but all the time made me drop out of choir! Oh well, I enjoyed grading papers more than bad, innuendo laden songs that I had to sing with other girls in front of my parents at recitals. Really...I didn't want to sing "music of the night" to my parents! I don't know about most people, but singing a song about sex while 15 to your family members is just a little disturbing. It's also the reason I had a really hard time making it through the performance of Music of the Night with out laughing (literally). It was enough to make anyone lose their marbles.

I have found a new use for those marbles and ubiquitous shiny stones for candle jars and vases. You can take those Rubbermaid containers that are supposed to be for washing dishes in - but no one really needs them now with modern sinks. I believe they are called dishpans.

Add said marbles/stones to the bin, fill with warm water, add mineral foot soak or your favorite for foot soaks and than relax. It was so relaxing to just chill with a good movie and a foot soak. The stones in the bottom provide a kind of massage as you move your feet around in the water. Different sizes and shapes on the stones really make for a wonderful massage. Take a pumice stone to your feet and after a good long soak, your feet will look amazing! Slather on some lotion and pop your tootsies into some comfy socks to lock in moisture. I can tell you, mine looked and felt amazing after doing this! Definitely one of the best new things I have tried - and, it's CHEAP! All under ten dollars, depending on what kind of foot soak additive you want. You can also just use plain water.

Wonderland

This last weeks book was Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I have to add that the Disney 1951 version of Alice in Wonderland scares the crap out of me, or at least my child self. I haven't had the heart to watch it since I was in the single digits. I watched the newer version of Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp. It might have been my recent completion of a study on Victorian ideals and female Scottish miners but I saw the 2010 version full of picks at Victorian society. I thought it was really interesting that Lewis Carroll, the pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge (his pseudonym is based off the Latin for his real name), wrote this story down for a real Alice. He had started telling this young Alice and her sister stories and then they begged for these stories to be written down. Thus, we now have Alice in Wonderland!

The movie might have been full of a lot of imagery, but the movie was really quite different. Alice's story was more about growing up, and this mostly came up at the end when Alice's older sister is revelling in the stories her sister was just telling her and reliving her youth. I think it was their symbolically through Alice's growing and shrinking throughout her time in wonderland. She had to shrink to fit into the wonderland and then she had to grow and shrink to fit into different places in wonderland. Before she returns to "reality," she can't control her growing. She is forced to grow up and pushed out of wonderland. The King and Queen ban her from the court because she's "over a mile tall". I'm sure I missed a ton of imagery, but I am feeling a bit rusty on my Victorian! Sometimes I wish I could have lived then - I'd flip to have seen the things Albert and Victoria were doing! I would have loved to have been their maid at Balmoral :D The story is pretty good over all, and it doesn't take long to read Alice's adventures.

Wildflower

I used to watch this movie called Wildflower when I was younger. I think it was a Lifetime movie, but I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! After watching it yesterday, I can see why I loved it and why I didn't see some of the crappy parts of it. When I was like 4 or 5, I probably didn't care that much about plot or THE ENDING! The ending just happens. It comes out of nowhere and bam - the end. The movie literally hits the turning point and less than 30 seconds later, it is ending. I do like Reese Witherspoon and Patricia Arquette in this movie. I think Patricia Arquette does a phenomenal job with her character and the portrayal of an abused life. I most also admit, Beau Bridges is way better than his brother. Heck, you can actually figure out the words comin' out of his mouth! Now, I like William McNamara, the guy who plays Sammy, but I would have thought he dropped off the face of the planet after this movie. Turns out he's been working ever since, I just don't recognize a single thing he's been in; there is Law and Order, so I know of that...but he was also in a Jerry Springer movie! I didn't even know Jerry Springer had a movie!

Anyways - the movie follows Sammy (William McNamara) and Ellie (Reese Witherspoon), a set of siblings during the 1930s. There mother is dead and they live with their illiterate, grief stricken father (Beau Bridges). Sammy is desperate to go to college and his father doesn't think he needs "all that book learnin'". Ellie is a curious Tom Boy that ends up finding out what the "ghost" is up at the Guthrie farm. To her amazement, she finds a hearing impaired girl named Alice (Patricia Arquette). Ellie and Sammy end up taking Alice into their care - they teach her how to bathe, to memorize a poem, how to escape the shed her abusive step-father locks her in. They give Alice a safe haven and end up changing her life.

She looks like she could take it

This weeks big celebrity news was Selena Gomez being rushed to the hospital. She was nauseated and sick. So of course, rumors had to fly about her being prego with Justin Beiber's baby. That would be so perfect! Can you imagine how many little girls cried when they thought that Justin may have impregnated Selena. As if it weren't bad enough already that he has a girlfriend - now he has to knock her up!?! There were some major broken hearts that night. They can't really go on 16 and Pregnant, but I am wondering what would go down legally with him being under age! That would have to be one of the funniest celebrity trials ever. I think even better than LiLo's cases of breaking parole and "accidentally" stealing thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. At least I think Selena wouldn't be "too delicate" to serve her time in jail like other celebrities...cough cough...Paris Hilton. At least Paris's charges were a whole lot more credible than if statutory rape charges were brought against Selena. It's not like Paris's time - I think it was 3 days she stayed there before becoming too depressed to continue - it's not like she was on a field trip people!!! She was serving a sentence and I don't think she should have been let out because it hasn't done anything to improve her character. Now she thinks it's filthy lies when tabloids say she was caught with weed because she didn't have enough on her to charge her! No you idiot...you still got caught with an illegal substance!

Can I get some Honey?

This thirsty Thursday can also go down as tuckered out Thursday. By the end of my work week I am so exhausted...I can hardly stand it. It seems like my bed time gets earlier and earlier and I keep hitting the snooze later and later! I really do like my job, but it can be exhausting going 9 hours straight.

Relationships - well, I am happy to say that I'm going to be able to stay home this weekend without running 9 million places. I'm excited to see some of my friends and just chill. It will be nice after 2 weekends of driving and bridal parties. I had a lot of fun this last weekend seeing a lot of my family. I got to spend quite a bit of time with my grandparents and my Honey. I think she spent most of the time I was there on my lap. My shirt was just COVERED in hair the first day. I ended up brushing her out for my grandparents - that German Sheppard/Rottweiler hair is so thick. I think I brushed her for 20 minutes and I could have gone another 20 without really making a dent in the amount of hair she had just falling off. We also got to watch home movies while we were there. Wow - some of those should be burned...and some are so cute! I especially loved some of my brother's fashion choices in 1991 (cropped polo, blue jeans with a huge belt buckle) and our all-over dorkiness.

Health - I can say I have read and watched more about health than I have actually done toward becoming more healthy. I did, though, discover that chopped strawberries and a dash of cinnamon in a bowl of applesauce is delicious and full of anti-oxidants!

Career - I am beginning to love my job. It was a lot of pressure and a lot of stress the first week. I honestly didn't know if I could do the job, but now I'm becoming more comfortable and relaxed around the office and my daily duties. I think this is going to be a really fun and interesting job. Today, my co-worker suggested to my boss that he should set me up! Lol - just what I need! I did get offered any of the single guys that walk through the door (oh yeah...what an awesome deal *note the sarcasm).

America's Laughing

I find it interesting that with age, there is less humor in things you once found funny. My friends and I were recently discussing America's Funniets Home Videos and all the shows like that - they really aren't all that funny. As a child I remember sitting with rapt attention at the t.v. Now, I watch those videos in horror. Some of the videos still retain a bit of comedy, but most of them leave me repulsed or cringing in pain. It is painful to watch others get hurt - grannies tipping over, grandpa's falling down while trying to dance, kids bashing their faces in while pogo jumping. OUCH! I think Scarred is a more appropriate show for some of those videos. The MC is a whole lot less funny and witty now that I have aged beyond 10.

I remember one day in high school, a girl in front of me fell head first down the stairs and bumped down every stair. I was concerned for her, but at the same time - I had to run away to keep from bursting out laughing at her. My friend and I, while in middle school, also laughed like crazy at a guy who fell while shoveling ... onto his shovel. We tried to keep our laughs in, it just didn't happen. We felt so bad about laughing but we couldn't stop. My sister and I also laughed, horribly, when a dad dropped his child in a parking lot. These things strike horror in my mind now and I can't believe I laughed at those things! I think with age, you begin to realize that other people's pain is not comedic. I will probably still laugh at someone else's pain at some point in time, but not quite as much as I used to. You sort of get that icky feeling watching it. There are those comedic movies that use others pain as entertainment and you can hardly watch it because it is so painful. Dinner for Schmucks is a perfect example of one of those movies.

Growing Pains

Today's testy Tuesday: growing up! Who new it could be so crazy to grow up!?!? I have had the same cell number since I was 16. Dear Lord, was that a long time ago! I took my first grown up steps, with my mommy's help, of course, and I got my own cell phone plan. There were plenty to choose from, but a "pay as you go" option worked best for me. With the fees and everything, it was about the same for a contract as it was for unlimited text and calls on the "pay as you go option".

Growing up has lots of new things. Figuring out a budget, figuring out how to plan a week to 2 weeks menu, write a shopping list, shop, stay on budget, work, work, work, balance with play, and try to make healthy decisions. It is quite challenging - all these new changes, but I think I'm beginning to get used to the growing pile of responsibility that is coming my way. Life as the baby has had it's perks and I am just now beginning to realize how sheltered I have really been from the realities of life! Part of these responsibilities is a bed time...and it is calling! So night dearies!

The Time Traveler's Wife

I read The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. This book follows the lives of Henry and Clare. Henry is chronologically challenged...a.k.a. he time travels. He jumps forwards and backwards in time; sometimes only being away for a few minutes to hours and days away. He begins to bump into Clare, his wife, while time travelling. That doesn't seem all that weird, except his older self goes and visits Clare from the time she is 6 until she is 18. This story follows their romance, their life together and apart, and how Henry's remarkable ability to time travel causes tension in their relationship.

I really liked the book and I am now interested in getting the movie. I really like the story and how it still seemed to flow despite the jumping around throughout time. It helped that they would state the dates and the ages of Clare and Henry when there were flops in time. The story dealt with lots of hard subjects - like love, how and when it forms, self-loathing, grief, difficulties of dealing with miscarriages, suicide. It was just a great story that dealt with a lot of big issues and in a new and creative manner. I think it is a great read and well worth the time!

The Shady Dame

I haven't had time to watch any movies this week, but Victor Victoria is one of my favorite movies. This part, I have a love hate relationship with - it is beyond hilarious and her voice grates perfectly to be the counter to Julie Andrew's heavenly vocals. James Garner and Julie Andrews are amazing in this movie and Robert Preston is perfect for comedic relief!

Julie Andrews is a distraught and impoverished singer who ends up cross dressing to get parts. Her friend helps her through and plays her(his) boyfriend. Julie ends up having difficulties when she begins to fall for a very important man from Chicago. It is a fun musical that just leaves you dying in laughter and that over all feel good feeling.

This is my other favorite part of the movie. Enjoy!

Commander and Chief

My dear, dear, dear, dear Colin Firth isn't quite knighted...but he has been named the Commander of the British Empire. Not really surprising since he has recently played the Queen's father. He is such a fantastic guy and he isn't too far off from being knighted. I think the Queen would be remiss in not adding him to the list of knighted actors. I mean...she added Sean Connery and he's not even close to the best James Bond! I do have to say though, I respect him for making her knight him in Scotland. That was pretty cool. Anyways, I am off to bed since I have to be leaving the house by like 5am!

Mooncup

I have just spent an inordinate amount of time reading about the Mooncup. I am not even sure when I first heard of this, but I wanted one even back then. I can't believe I remembered the name of the product after all these years. It kind of looks and sounds awkward, but I figure if I can reduce the amount of garbage I produce - it is WELL worth it. According to the site, the average woman will use about 11,000 sanitary products during her "mature" years and the mooncup lasts and lasts. I'll quit the rather less appealing discussion of "lady business".

I am having a lot of fun at work, but it can be really stressful trying to learn everyone's name. I have met a lot of really sweet people though.

My health is in limbo right now. My diet isn't so hot...as I'm sure the 10 chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cupcake could tell you. I still haven't had time to figure out when to workout. I am pretty much mentally and physically wiped out after work. I'm sure once I get more used to what is going on I'll be able to set into a schedule.

Working is going well. I like what I get to do, despite how frantic and confusing it can get at times. Once most things become routine, I won't feel near as much stress as I have been this week.

Whirlwind Storms and R.B.I.s

I am so tired tonight and my mind after several days of training has my brain on empty. My brain is exhausted! Learning all the steps of my new job, learning names, and then coming home to help with the cooking and sewing! I suck at sewing and I have been helping lately. It's probably a good thing I only had to help sew the straps and then turn them right side out. I am too tired to write about some of the ideas I have pinging around my head. I'm too tired for proper sentences to be formed, let alone some sort of discussion or argument coming across in a proper manner.

My bed is calling despite the piles I need to go through and clean up: piles of papers, piles of clothes to be put away, blankets to be refolded, piles of papers to be read. I am ready for my mind to have a break and simply listen to the wonderfulness of Gilbert Blythe. "It's a nice story-book image."

I am also currently annoying my rather by calling Ryan Braun: "J.J." cuz a while back J.J. Hardy was the heart throb of Milwaukee Brewers baseball. I've now taken to calling him: "R.B. Eyes" - hahahaha! He can't help it that he's got bug eyes - he's not quite like my brother's Boston terrier and he's not deformed...they just are very prominent. I love the play on words - he does have a ton of RBIs (Runners Batted In) this year and it works with his initials and looks. I am surprised no sports caster or announcer has come up with that nickname yet.

It's horribly hilarious that just as I was about to post this, the power went out. I had to get candles for my dad and I who were in the pitch black basement. It was unsure if the power would come back on at all and I am going to finish here quickly so I don't lose everything all over again.

Bridal Shower Prep

My mom, my sister, and I are starting an assembly line of apron making. This weekend we are having a cooking themed bridal shower and every one is getting an apron! This means we have lots of sewing to do. It is actually really fun picking out the fabric and trim. We made the bride a white apron with platinum trim since her bridesmaids dresses are platinum. The shower concept it really interesting: each person brings a special/favorite family recipe and a special dish to serve it in or one of the ingredients for the recipe. It is a little scary to think about how many serving platters and dishes they might walk away with, but it is still a cool idea for sharing family recipes.

Be Daring

I recently listened to The Daring Book for Girls by Andrea J. Buchanan and Miriam Peskowitz. It is a girl's guide to being a girl, going out and exploring, building things, educating yourself and learning about other powerful and influential women. I thought it was interesting to learn that Julia Child helped invent shark repellent to keep sharks from setting off anti-sub bombs and the lady, Bette Claire Graham, who invented liquid paper (better known as white out) - her son was in The Monkees. I liked that it encouraged girls to get out and do things that build relationships, confidence, and an imagination. This is a really great book and I am recommending it to my little sister as a summer read! The book also has a sequel and an interesting web page resource that is linked through the title at the top.

All Because of a Stupid Picture

I watched the recent, 2009, movie version of Dorian Gray. The movie was really good - with actors like Ben Barnes, Colin Firth, and Ben Chaplin. Dorian (Ben Barnes) comes to London and meets Basil (Ben Chaplin), a painter, and than Colin Firth's character, Lord Henry, was basically the devil. Lord Henry decides to take young Dorian under his wing and teach him the type of lifestyle he wished he could lead - all pleasure. Basil paints a stunning portrait of Dorian and in a discussion on living forever - Dorian says he would choose that. He eventually discovers what has happened and begins guarding his painting as if it were the most precious thing on the face of the earth. The portrait takes on the scars, disease, and corruption of his character; becoming more and more disgusting by the day. He leaves to explore and when he finally returns home, he decides that he wants to start living life correctly. Lord Henry becomes quite put off when some of Dorian's bad habits begin to affect him and he begins to piece together parts of the puzzle.

I really like this movie overall. It was a little awkward to see "Prince Caspian" , as I know Ben Barnes, screwing just about everything that moved. There were some other rather graphic scenes as well that were quite disturbing. It was a really well done movie - with some great, if not disturbing, imagery. I was a little confused by the idea of Dorian Gray being a character by an aesthete - Oscar Wilde. Art is beauty for the sake of beauty in the world and no "moral to the story" works were considered. This is interesting since Dorian is beauty for beauty's sake and yet his life of pleasure makes and ugly "soul"/portrait. I saw a larger than life moral to the story with the life of Dorian Gray. His body and charm and lifestyle might seem beautiful, but his soul and mind are degenerated to a state of putrescence. I might actually have to get the book out and see how similar the movie is to the story before I pass too much judgement.

Pretty Little Start

I am super excited for the June 14th premiere of Pretty Little Liars! I can not wait.

I'm a little thrown off right now while listening to Allen Ginsberg reading his poetry. I think I can't handle his hippie poetry - my God, it has only been 6 minutes and I've heard more about sex and communism and capitalism than I'd ever really like to hear.

Anyways, back to Pretty Little Liars. I'm excited to have the story line pick back up and see what happens now that A is becoming more and more revealed and there has been a death! Plus, the cops got really close to finding out about Fitz and Aria! Yikes.

Going to things even more flitty than tv drama - I can't believe that Kate Hudson is going to get married again. She said after she divorced her first husband that she didn't believe in monogamy or committing to one person for a lifetime. I'm not against her finding love and getting pregnant, but if you don't believe in the commitment, why even get married? I guess I don't just understand why you'd bother with a wedding and marriage commitment if you only plan on breaking it and getting someone new in another couple of years. If you don't believe in it, why do it? It's like those how are atheists going out and praying. Now wonder the rate of divorce is insane in the United States. We have pop culture that treats love like a flitty feeling: "Tonight I'm loving you". Enrique used to have good love songs with his Latin culture. Especially with his father having some of the most amazing love songs. We are all about sex addictions and Sex and the City - not that "At last" moment. It is not surprising to me at all that the ideas of love in this country are so screwed up. We don't want a lasting love relationship - someone that we cherish and care about enough to stay by through thick and thin into eternity - America wants a one night drunken stand that ends with a Plan B pill at 10 the next morning.

Let's Go Manifest Something

Olivia, on Jerseylicious, believes in manifesting things off a dream board. I actually thought about making a "dream" board/"goal" board. Covering it with the things that I want out of life and the goals I want to achieve. I am hoping to get this done soon; however, it has been on my to do list for a while...it probably didn't help that a couple of the things I had cut out got masticated (just chewed, not swallowed) by my little nephew. I'm just really happy he didn't chew on my clipping of Mumford and Sons (goal to see them as many times as I possible can). Who knows, I'm hoping doing this will help give me some direction in my life and goals worth working towards.

Relationships: I have new co-workers now. I'm so excited. I already love my Chiropractor and the other office lady. I think we are all going to get along well. Still no glimmer of a romantic relationship, but hey, who knows what may happen in the future.

Health is ok. I didn't get in a "workout", but I spent a lot of time out gardening and riding my bike around doing errands. So not much improvement, but I'm hoping that I can get into a new routine with my new job soon. I have learned a lot about health in the training stuff I've been given to read/watch for work. I already found something in my mom's cupboard called "Flavor Enhancer" and it was straight MSG.

Career is a huge improvement! I am now employed. THANK YOU JESUS! I'm going to see if I can get a second job to supplement hours since I only work about 32 hours a week and I don't have any kind of benefits. I'm not too worried since laws changed and I can apparently loaf around on my parents insurance until I am 27. My employers are completely supportive of further education and continued educational growth, so maybe this will give me some room to look into a grad degree. I'm also excited that the 3 day weekend will allow me some time to work on my writing.

A New Generation of Tremors

There isn't much to say tonight other than I am elated to now be employed!!!!!! It is interesting learning a lot of the Chiropractic and health aspects that I need to have a basic knowledge of - needless to say, I doubt I will be eating a potatoe or drinking soda ever again. I might switch over to a completely organic, zero processed foods diet. I thought it was interesting to learn about the aspartame and how it is linked to neurological diseases and how these two things can be linked to Michael J. Fox. Apparently on an anniversary of his supporting Diet Pepsi (a brand that uses aspartame as a sweetener) was the day he revealed his struggle with Parkinson's (a neurological disorder). I think I'm ripping every can of Diet Pepsi, or any soda for that matter, out of my dad's hands from now on! I don't want to have to stick him in a nursing home, but I don't want to be helping him around when he can't remember who I am or who he is, but I'm sure his body will still remember how good Diet Pepsi tastes.
